Dental Assistant - Temporary Full Time

BASIC FUNCTION:

Under the supervision of the Dentist, Lead Dental Assistant and/or Dental Clinic Office Manager, assist in the delivery of dental care to provide quality services to special needs individuals served.

DESCRIPTION OF ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Responsible for patient comfort as well as patient or guardian's understanding of treatment that will be delivered. This includes ensuring completion of paperwork        and consents for such treatment.

1. Responsible for taking diagnostic quality dental radiographs. Also responsible      for determining if the quality of the radiographs are within acceptable limits and         ensuring that they are properly labeled and stored.

1. Responsible for basic dental equipment maintenance as well as having an understanding of and ability to perform instrument and operatory sterilization in         compliance with OSHA requirements.

1. Responsible for the proper use and mixing of restorative material, impression material, bases, liners, and other dental materials.

1. Responsible for understanding the computerized dental charting system and charting in a clear, concise method that is acceptable by ADA standards, and easily understood.

1. Responsible for proper pouring up of impressions, trimming of models, and making temporaries.

1. Responsible for understanding and practicing confidentiality within the HIPAA Regulations.

1. Other duties as directed or assigned.

1. In compliance with Milestone, Inc. philosophy and policies toward Human Rights; immediately intervenes on behalf of the individual(s) served and reports to the appropriate agency (OIG, DCFS, IDPH) and/or Supervisor.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Requires mobility which permits maximum movement within a confined space.

RDA or CDA preferred

One year experience as dental assistant preferred.
