PROGRAM: Dental Clinic

TITLE: Dental Hygienist

POSITION: Full- or part-time

BASIC FUNCTION:

Under the Doctor's supervision, responsible for providing preventative care, oral hygiene care, appropriate xrays etc. for all special needs (DD/ID) individuals served.

DESCRIPTION OF ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBITIES:

1. Responsible for patient safety and comfort as well as patient/guardian understanding of treatment that will be delivered. This includes review of the patient's medical history and ensuring all pertinent paperwork is up to date and signed. Includes completion of treatment documentation.

2. Under the Doctor's supervision, responsible for providing preventative care, oral hygiene care, appropriate xrays etc. for all special needs (DD/ID) individuals served.

3. Responsible for a clear understanding and the continuous practice of confidentiality within the HIPAA Regulations.

4. Responsible for remaining current with all education required by the State of Illinois for license renewal.

5. In compliance with Milestone, Inc. philosophy and policies toward Human Rights; immediately intervenes on behalf of the individual(s) served and reports to the appropriate agency (OIG, DCFS, IDPH) and/or Supervisor.

OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

6. Responsible for providing oral hygiene instruction for all hygiene patients.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Requires mobility which permits maximum movement within a confined space.

Must be a licensed Dental Hygienist in the State of Illinois.

Graduate of an accredited Dental Hygiene program.
